Alcohol

Alcohol must not be consumed on the bus, in line with the Transport Act. There are no exceptions.

Animals

Only official assistance dogs are permitted on our bus services. This includes hearing dogs, seeing eye dogs, and dogs that support epilepsy or other medical conditions. Please carry valid identification from a recognised organisation when travelling, as drivers may ask to see this when you board.

Bus stops

Hamilton City buses can only stop at official, clearly signposted bus stops. Please do not ask the driver to stop elsewhere. All bus stops are listed on each bus route page on our website.

Some regional bus services operate a hail and ride service, allowing the bus to pick up or drop off passengers where it is safe to do so. For information about hail and ride locations, please contact the BUSIT team.

Food and drink

Food and drink must not be consumed on the bus. Grocery items may be carried on board.

Scooters and skateboards

Foldable scooters and skateboards are allowed on buses but must be securely stowed at all times to ensure the safety of other passengers.

Smoking and vaping

All of our bus services are smokefree and vapefree. Smoking and vaping is not allowed on board at any time.
