Bike racks on regional services

The following blue regional services have two bike racks available to use on a first-in-first-served basis:

20 Cambridge

21 Northern Connector

22 Eastern Connector

23 Raglan

24 Te Awamutu

26 Te Kūiti Connector

32 Tokoroa Connector

33 Taupō Connector


Bike racks can be used by BUSIT passengers at their own risk and must be loaded and unloaded by the passenger.

Racks are located at the front of the bus (external), and while drivers can advise passengers, they are unable to assist with lifting or securing the bikes.

CONDITIONS OF USE
  • There is no charge for using the bike racks. 
  • There are two bike spaces available on each bus 
    and spaces are first in, first served. 
  • Each bike must weigh under 25kg.
  • Only bikes with 16” diameter, or larger, wheels are 
    able to use the racks. Specifically, wheel sizes may 
    only be between 16”/40.6cm and 29”/73cm/700c 
    and up to 3”/7.62cm width. Bikes must have a 
    maximum wheelbase dimension of 44”/111cm.
  • Loading and unloading the bike is the responsibility 
    of the passenger. Before loading your bike, please 
    remove any loose items, such as drink bottles and 
    helmets. Always load and unload your bike from the 
    kerbside. 
  • Bikes are insured up to $1,500 when on the bike rack.
    Electric bikes that meet all of the above minimum 
    and maximum dimensions and with sealed gel, 
    lithium Ion, or NiCad batteries are permitted. 
  • Electric bikes with liquid lead acid batteries are not 
    permitted.
  • Petrol and other similarly powered bikes are not 
    permitted.
  • If you experience any problems while using the 
    bike rack, please notify the driver immediately.
